Daises and Rats: A Ron Weasley Short Story

"Hey Fred.. I think it's time we teach our little first year a spell!"
"Good thinking George.. I bet he doesn't know a thing!"

"Hey little bro!"   11 year old Ron Weasley turned to look at his brothers, Fred and George. or The Tricksters as they were known among the  Weasley family.

"Sighs." This couldn't be good.. The only spells Fred and  George were good at were, well disarming spells.

"Oy! Come on now! We don't have all day before Mum gets back from Diagon Alley!" Fred shouted from outside.

Ron  slowly got up, and sprinted out to where the gnomes were  already laughing at him.. and he could feel his face turn red.

"Alright  Now.  Get that Rat out you carry around like it's an owl!" George  said.

Ron pulled out his shabby, hand-me down but only friend  Scabbers out of his pocket.

"Alright? You want to know a spell?" Fred said, his eyes beaming.

"Yes." Of course he did, he would have rather learned one from Charlie though,  his Dragon  caretaker brother who was currently in Egypt.

"Alright. Repeat after us. Sunshine Daisies.  Bottom Yellows. Turn this Stupid Fat Rat Yellow!"
They waved their wands,  and a shimmer of light came out but nothing more.

"Sighs."  They told Ron to try it next.
"Sunshine Daisies, mellow, Turn this Stupid Fat Rat Yellow!" With a wave with his wand,  Ron shouted the spell.

Scabbers fled.  Gnomes cheered. and Fred and George walked away howling with laughter.
"Well. At least at Hogwarts, I can show somebody I can do a little bit of Magic before the rest of my year."   Ron bowed his head and went off looking for Scabbers.

Little did he know, that one spell would become famous among the Muggle World,  and it would help him be friend the most famous wizard of all, Harry Potter on the Hogwarts Express.

The story is mine, but the characters and spell all belong to J.K. Rowling. I also did not photograph or draw any of the pictures in this story.
